February 2018 Meeting

Our next meeting will be 28th of February 2018 at 8pm in the Clayton Hotel, Ballybrit, Galway.

Dara is final year OT student. Dara wants to do research on sleep disorder in people with Parkinsons and how this affect their daily routine. She will attend our meeting and give a brief talk about her study and she will be looking for people to volunteer to take part in her study. This sounds very interesting and we look forward to hearing all about it at the meeting.

We are delighted to have been nominated for a joint award winners and would like to thank all who nominated us. The Gala Black Tie Ball will be held in Galway Bay Hotel on Friday the 9th of March, 2018 at 7.30pm. Tickets are €70.00. If any one is interested in attending please let us know.

We have been approached by Nicole of Healthy Galway who would like us to take part in Yoga classes for six weeks for people with mobility challenges. These classes are open to members and their spouses. The classes will be held in the new Ballinfoile Community Centre. We are delighted to get involved in this as Healthy Galway will cover the cost of the venue, instructor and even a cuppa. If you are interested please contact me. Caroline 0862566655. Hopefully starting 27th Feb!!!!

If you have not returned your membership form please do so by forwarding same to Marie or bring along to the meeting with membership fee of 30.00 euro. It is important that we have everyone’s details so we can forward notices of meetings etc . We are trying to cut down on postage and if you have an email address we would be obliged if you would confirm same.

It is great that our classes are back up and running. It is very important that we have a good attendance at both as we have received funding from HSE and we have to report back to them in respect of the classes.

Some members have shown interest in a day out and we are open to suggestions. So far we have requests to visit Knock and Ballintubber Abbey. Other suggestions bowling, cinema and a visit to Pure Skill in Knocknacarra which has an indoor activity area ie hurling, golf, football etc.   We will discuss more at our meeting.

Christmas Cards 2016

We are absolutely delighted with the 2016 selection of Christmas Cards.  These cards would not have been possible without the very generous contribution of images from the artists - Margaret Clayton Burns, Maura Hackett, Geraldine Fleming Jones and Philomena Monahan.

If you would like to get some cards just give us a call at 087 7783825 or come to any of our meetings/events.
