In 2007 we undertook  a “Major Fundraising Drive” to help with the provision of a much needed  “Day Treatment Centre” at University College Hospital Galway for persons  with Neurology disorders.

An area was located within UCHG. In 2009 we were able to open the “Day Treatment Centre”  thanks to all the hard work of all those involved. We are continuously liaising with the Neurology Team who along with the HSE believe the long term benefits of a “Multi- Disciplinary Day Treatment Centre”  is the best way forward. This Unit has greatly reduced the number of necessary appointments to the hospital, as the relevant Medical Specialists would see the patient on  just one inclusive visit. This greatly reduces the distress of unnecessary repeated trips to the hospital  experienced by somany suffers in the West of Ireland.

We also liaise with the Neurology Department at University College Hospital, Galway.  We are in constant contact with Dr.Counihan, Dr. Hennessy, Dr. Hibbab, and Dr. Lynch Neurologists and Patrick Browne Parkinsons Disease Nurse Specialist.  We help link the bridge between the Neurology team and our members with Parkinsons.
